To publish, or not to publish?

the "GETMO" approach

A question I see all the time while building social media profiles:

How do I know when to ship content? When is it “done”?

Something I wish I learned earlier in building on socials, is that there is no “perfect time”.

As they say, change is the only constant. That includes for the content creator.

You are likely going to change niches…

  • Change branding.

  • Change your voice.

  • Change your topics and style.

And thats GOOD.

It's a long game, so overthinking how you approach keeps you pigeon-holed, and actually doesn't help you build the habits and systems that lead to long-term success.

A philosophy that has helped me here is called GETMO (from Craig Groeschel)

G - Good
E - Enough
T - To
M - Move
O - On

Once you have your "good enough" direction.

Start publishing.

Start sending.

The compound effects of posting only take place if you put in the needed reps, so don’t overthink it.

Ask yourself:

  • Does is align with my goals?

  • Does it build trust in my brand and my experience?

  • Does it provide value to my Ideal Client, should they come across it?

If so, chances are good that it’s time to hit send.

Keep building,

Brett Erik
