5 content types that actually work on LinkedIn

If you want to grow your audience, attract clients, and build authority on LinkedIn—these are the 5 types of content that get attention (and results):
1. Value Posts (Teach Something Useful)
✅ Tips, frameworks, mental models
✅ Breakdowns, lessons, step-by-step guides
✅ “Here’s how I did it” stories
Why it works: You become the go-to expert by solving real problems.
2. Personal Stories (Show the Human Side)
✅ Career pivots, mistakes, mindset shifts
✅ Behind-the-scenes of your day, wins, or failures
✅ Lessons from past experiences
Why it works: Stories build connection. And connection builds trust.
✅ Screenshots of growth or wins
✅ Case studies from clients
✅ Before/after comparisons
Why it works: Social proof shows you’re legit—without needing to say it.
4. Engagement Posts (Spark Conversations)
✅ Contrarian takes
✅ Thought-provoking questions
✅ Polls or “hot takes”
Why it works: Comments = reach. These posts start meaningful threads.
5. Content Sharing (Extend Your Ecosystem)
✅ Link to a new podcast, blog, YouTube, etc.
✅ Newsletter snippets
✅ Event announcements or community plugs
Why it works: Keeps your audience in your world—across platforms.
The bottom line is this: You don’t need to go viral.
You just need to be consistent—with the right mix of content.
Start with 2–3 of these types. Rotate weekly.
And most importantly: write like a human.
Social media timelines are essentially one big group chat, so getting yourself out there can open up opportunities that would never otherwise happen.
