#1 Way to Build TRUST with Founders

Top skill that trumps all others, especially with high-profile connections

The further I get into online business, the more I realize that 1 skill trumps all others:

Honesty

It’s rule #1 of the Four Agreements for a reason (Thank you Don Miguel Ruiz)

—> Candor maintains momentum

Being forthright with clients and team members allows you to maintain forward progress — you speak what you are observing, and others feel free to do the same.

Must-read book on this topic:

“Radical Candor” by Kim Scott

You get at the reality of situations faster and more efficiently

You don’t over-promise

You don’t exaggerate results

You set expectations accurately

And by extension, you don’t have to constantly double back

Yes, consistency, hard work, adaptability, tenacity, speed are all mandatory as well (to keep growing)

But it’s the honesty and integrity that allow those other traits to move the needle.

Quality communication is a high ROI skill to develop, because in truth, everyone wants to win.

It’s getting everyone on the same page and working toward the same goal that’s the true challenge

When you maintain clear communication, and are forthright with your speech, you give you and your team the opportunity to see the compounding effects of the other business “virtues”

Reminds me of the quote from the navy —

“Slow is fast.
Slow is smooth.
Smooth is fast.
Slow is fast”

Choosing to say the thing, even when it’s uncomfortable, is a trait I greatly admire in my role models, and I’ve seen firsthand just how powerful it is when deployed with my team and our clients.
